Zhan Guohua (S.5A) had excellent performance in the Nationwide Chinese Writing Competition for Secondary Group (2015-2016). He won three prizes including “The Rising Star of Literature”, “National First Prize” and “Best Speculative Award”. This competition is the largest scale one in China. More than millions students participated in the competition. So, it is really a great honuor for him to win the prizes. The theme of this year is “我成長,我擔當”. The topic of Zhan’s writing is “《給手推車留些空隙》”. In the essay, Zhan skillfully describes how those at the lowest social strata the low class people hardly make a living in the flourishing Central of Hong Kong. And he reflects deeply how a city should treat the petty and the low class people and things. He finally brings out a warm and serious message: only if we care and respect the people and things which almost have been forgotten or neglected by us, and give them a space to survive, our community will be ideal. This writing has also been published by Wen Wei Po dated 23 May, 2016.
