Switzerland Glacier Education Tour
To enhance students' understanding of global warming, we were privileged to have Mr. Cheung Wai Yin, a polar exploration expert, lead an expedition to the glaciers of Switzerland.
The trip began at the Institute of Earth Surface Dynamics at the University of Lausanne, where students engaged in glacier research. They then explored the Aletsch Glacier area and Saas Fee, participating in glacier studies and outdoor lectures. Students also practiced ice climbing skills, learned to use ice drills to interpret the stories told by ice cores, and observed the local flora and fauna in the Swiss mountains.
Throughout the journey, the students gained a profound awareness of the effects of global warming on glaciers and extreme weather.
