2025 Policy Address Public Consultation
Principal Ho Tik Shun, in his capacity as a member of the District Fire Safety Committee (Eastern District), a member of the District Youth Community Building Committee (Eastern District), and the principal of an Eastern District Direct Subsidy Scheme secondary school, presented the following suggestions to the government at the "2025 Policy Address District Consultation Meeting" on 27 July 2025 (Sun):
Although the authorities are committed to promoting positive education and addressing the mental health of teachers and students, the "Educational Psychology School Services" only cover public ordinary primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. Direct subsidy schools need to bear the costs and recruitment of these services themselves. The suggestions are as follows:
1. Expand the relevant services to direct subsidy schools;
2. The number of hours/days for school services is limited and needs to be increased;
3. There are few options for educational psychologists, and industry professional training is urgently needed!
We hope the government and the authorities will seriously consider strengthening and optimizing the educational psychologist services in schools to help assess students' mental and learning conditions, manage campus crisis events, and enhance teaching and learning effectiveness, thus preventing issues before they arise. Thank you!
