National Security Education Seminar
To warmly commemorate the 29th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the “Yan Nam” Care Team of Eastern District and The Chinese Foundation Secondary School jointly organised a flag-raising ceremony and civic education promotion activity on 1 July 2026. The event commenced with a solemn flag-raising ceremony, during which all participants stood in reverence, embodying a profound sense of patriotism. Subsequently, Mr. Tong Wai Yuen, representative of the Care Team, delivered a keynote presentation, offering an accessible yet insightful overview of the nation’s cutting-edge advancements and emerging opportunities in fields such as aerospace technology, green energy, and the digital economy, enabling the audience to appreciate the vast potential brought by national progress.
Following that, Mr. Ho Tik Shun, the School Principal and a regional instructor of national security education, took the stage to elaborate on the profound significance of national security. He systematically expounded the core tenets of the “Holistic Approach to National Security,” detailing its five essential elements—namely, upholding people’s security as the ultimate goal, political security as the fundamental principle, economic security as the foundation, military, technological, cultural, and social security as safeguards, and international security as a supporting pillar—alongside its twenty key areas, covering political, territorial, military, economic, cultural, technological, ecological, and other security dimensions closely related to daily life. Principal Ho stressed that national security is not merely a macro-level governance strategy but is intimately tied to the well-being of every citizen. Safeguarding national security is both a right and a civic duty.
This activity not only deepened the community’s understanding of national security but also ignited a heightened sense of civic responsibility among participants. We aspire that through sustained national education and community collaboration, a social consensus of “National security is everyone’s responsibility” can be consolidated, enabling the advantages of “one country, two systems” to thrive on a solid security foundation. Together, we strive to contribute to the vision of building a “higher-level Safe China” as outlined in the 15th Five-Year Plan.
