"Setting Sail for Dreams - Soaring Eastern District" Carnival

To celebrate the 29th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's return to the motherland, the "Setting Sail for Dreams • Soaring Eastern District" Carnival was jointly organised by the Eastern District Committee (Chai Wan) of the Federation of Hong Kong Island Associations, The Chinese Foundation Secondary School, the Parent-Teacher Association, the Eastern District Associations Federation, and the Man Hong Service Centre, with staunch support from the Eastern District Office. The event brought together community members from all walks of life, creating a lively and heartwarming atmosphere that truly reflected the unity and vibrancy of the Eastern District.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr. You Bin, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong Island Work Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, and Mr. Henry Lai, JP, District Officer (Eastern) and Chairman of the Eastern District Council, along with a host of distinguished guests. Following the official kick-off ceremony, students from The Chinese Foundation Secondary School delivered a series of captivating performances, including Chinese calligraphy demonstrations, contemporary vocal renditions, and a Chinese orchestral ensemble. The melodious music and graceful brushwork enchanted the audience, drawing rounds of warm applause.

Afterwards, the students acted as docents, guiding the honourable guests on a tour of the school's distinctive facilities, including the Rooftop Science and Sustainable Development Resource Centre, the Aerospace Hall, the Panda Library, the Director Xia Baolong’s Reading Corner, and the China Resources Centre. These showcases highlighted the school's unwavering commitment to STREAM education, sustainable development, and national education, demonstrating its innovative and dedicated approach to holistic learning.

More than just a celebratory event for the anniversary of the handover, this carnival served as a concrete example of collaboration between the school and the wider community. We take this opportunity to extend our best wishes for the continued prosperity of our nation, the harmony and stability of Hong Kong, and the ongoing progress and excellence of the Eastern District as we look forward to a brighter future together.
