Visit to the Marine Police Aberdeen Base
CFSS organised a leadership training outreach programme for our Discipline Prefects. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Ms. Cher Man Wai, Chairperson of the Parent-Teacher Association and Parent Manager, Principal Mr. Ho Tik Shun, Assistant Principal Ms. Leung Yue Shan Jennifer, and Discipline Master Mr. Wong Ka Wai for their meticulous arrangements, which enabled twenty-eight prefects to step into the Marine Police Aberdeen Base, a place ordinarily difficult to access, to gain a deeper understanding of the Marine Police's daily operations and equipment, learn about maritime safety knowledge, and personally experience the professionalism and sense of mission behind maritime law enforcement and rescue work.
During the visit, which lasted over two hours, the activities were rich and wonderful. Everyone first attended a thematic talk to learn about different types of Marine Police vessels and to understand the Marine Police's important duties in maritime search and rescue. They work closely with other government departments to deploy resources to the sea, outlying islands, and remote areas to transport patients and the injured to hospitals for treatment. The prefects then took turns trying rope throwing, and tried on equipment such as bulletproof vests, ballistic helmets, and protective shields. Everyone was also fortunate enough to enter the wheelhouse, where they came to understand that sea lanes are the lifeline of maritime transport. The Marine Police closely manage Hong Kong's sea lanes and assist the Marine Department in ensuring that vessels navigate safely and appropriately.
The Marine Police District fleet patrols the waters of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region all year round, day and night, demonstrating a strong police presence and protecting our maritime boundaries. It is our hope that all prefects can draw from this experience the spirit of diligently fulfilling one's duties, not only maintaining order on campus, but also watching over one another and working together to build a caring and courteous school atmosphere. At the same time, may they extend this professionalism and commitment to the community, becoming young leaders who are courageous in taking on responsibility and eager to serve.
