Visit of the Applied Physics Department of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and use the Remote Lab System developed by Poly U Applied Physics Department

In order to broaden their horizon and to arose their interest in remote-controlled experiments, two groups of S.6 students taking Physics visited the Applied Physics Department of PolyU on the 11th and 12th April respectively.

Thanks to Dr Lau Kai Shui's arrangements, our S.6 Science students became the pioneers in testing and using the Remote Lab System developed by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Applied Physics Department. Under such a system, students tried the mechanics and wave experiments and may book in advance the experimental time sessions round the clock. It can greatly improve the flexibility and the accuracy of the results. All students found the system useful, advanced and professional.

  • Group photo of 6S1 students with Mr. Tong and hosts, Dr C. L. MAK, Dr Y. W. Wong and Dr Dennis LEUNG

  • Dr CL Mak and his assistant introduce the in-site experiment through the web. Our students will soon get the login name and password to book the sytem invented by Poly U and do the menchanics and wave experiments.

  • From the technology pertinent to iPhone 4, Dr Y. W. Wong gives an insightful account on how Physics concepts can be applied to new technology.

  • A guided tour around the undergraduate laboratory by Dr Mak

  • Dr. Mak explains the model He-Ne laser to a group of 6S1 students.

  • Dr Wong describes the laser ablation system to a group of 6S2 students.
