S7 Field Studies Course on Cheung Chau

Our S7 Geography students joined the field studies course organized by Caritas Chan Chun Ha Field Studies Centre in Cheung Chau on 16 November, 2011. The abstract Central Place Theories in urban Geography was tested and applied through field data collection and interviews. Map presentation and sharing of the summarized spatial data were done with the Geographical Information System. It is certainly a valuable experience to exchange ideas with other schools’ students.

  • Planning the routes of field data collection in Cheung Chau

  • Experiencing and applying the urban geography theories on site

  • Learning how to use the new GIS program to summarize spatial data collected

  • Widening horizons by exchanging ideas with other schools’ students

  • Presenting findings of the research

  • Geography theories can be applied in the nature as well as in the cities.
