10th Anniversary Cantonese Opera Concert
With the good news still resounding that Cantonese Opera has been inscribed into UNESCO’s "Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity", CFSS organized a Cantonese Opera Concert on 21st November 2009 from 12 noon to 6 pm. The event inaugurated a series of activities in pursuit of a gold award under the Sustainable Development School Award Scheme and is also the second event to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the school. Co-organized with the YMCA Chai Wan Centre the concert is another landmark of the school’s continual effort for the sustainable development of this valuable cultural heritage.
This is the third time that the school hall was engaged to hold a Cantonese Opera Concert for the local community. Excerpts from Cantonese operas have become mandatory performances in the school open days. This time three CFSS teaching staff and five students together with 14 amateur artists performed in the concert, which attracted 200 participants, including 50 staff and students. Elderly in their seventies as well as youngster less than ten from the neighborhood were among the audience.
